Darby & Ryan
Ryan got his girlfriend, Darby, a photo session for her birthday, and I loved working with this fun couple! We met at Cataract Falls for a gorgeous sunset session.
I've wanted to shoot at Cataract Falls for a while, so I was excited these two were down for it! It's totally my new favorite place. Just check out that gorgeous waterfall! That river was too pretty, and I was all about the rocks. My favorite spot was the picnic area, which seems funny, but everything was so pretty. It was a little muddy, and predictably I managed to cover myself entirely in mud (this is such a classic Kelsey move it’s kind of embarrassing) while these two remained pretty much spotless.
Darby and Ryan have really neat matching claddagh rings. He got hers for her when he studied abroad in Ireland. The hands represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty. It’s such a sweet symbol of their love for each other that I had to snap some of the rings, too.
Darby and Ryan are everything I love about photographing couples: joyful, goofy, and just really in love. When I asked Ryan to twirl Darby, naturally, Darby also twirled Ryan. All the nose kisses, forehead kisses, and whispering every pizza topping you can think of in each others’ ears is worth it. It probably sounds like I’m asking people to do really goofy things during sessions, but this is why: real laughs. Seeing the ways people interact genuinely is why I do this. My heart melts. I’m just really happy to see happy people.
Also, did I mention they both have really great hair? Wow. I am lucky to have half as good of hair as either of them on my best hair days, I tell you what. Amazing.
